What the job usually involves

Every property is different, which is why the estimate comes after somebody has actually looked at it rather than before. What does not change is the process: assess, explain the options in plain language, put the scope and price in writing, then do the work to that scope.

Correction removes defects by levelling a few microns of clear coat, which is why depth readings come first. Clear coat is finite — typically 40 to 60 microns — and once it is gone the only fix is respraying.

Every job starts with a test section: the least aggressive pad and compound that clears the defects, established on one panel before the whole car is touched. Starting with the heaviest cut is faster and takes more clear coat than the car can spare.

A panel wipe before assessment is what separates correction from concealment. Polishing oils temporarily fill what they have not removed, and a finish that looks perfect until the oils evaporate was never corrected.

Not every defect should be chased. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail are usually through the clear, and removing them entirely would take more material than is safe. We will tell you which marks are staying and why.
