Warning signs

How to know you need us

If you recognize any of these, it is worth having somebody look before it becomes a larger job.

  • Swirl marks visible in direct sun
  • Water no longer beads on the paint
  • Interior smells and will not clear
  • Stains set into cloth seats or carpet
  • Pet hair woven into the carpet
  • Brake dust baked onto the wheels
  • Preparing to sell or hand back a lease

Your options

More than one right answer.

A mobile detailer who only ever recommends the most expensive option is not giving you advice. Here is the honest range.

Maintenance wash

A proper hand wash and a sealant top-up on a schedule. Cheapest per visit and the reason well-kept cars stay well-kept.

Full detail

Inside and out in one visit. The usual starting point for a car that has not been detailed before.

Paint correction

Machine polishing to remove defects rather than hide them. Judged in the sun and under inspection light, not in the shade.

Ceramic coating

Correction first, then a coating that bonds to the clear coat. Priced by the prep it needs, not by the bottle.

What it costs

What actually drives the price.

We do not quote mobile auto detailing over the phone, because an honest number needs somebody to look at the job. These are the things that move it.

  • Vehicle size and type

A two-seat coupe and a three-row SUV are not the same job. Panel area, glass, seats and carpet all scale, and pricing follows them rather than a flat rate.

  • Condition on arrival

A maintained car needs a wash and a seal. One that has not been cleaned in two years needs decontamination, extraction and hours of hand work before it looks like anything.

  • Interior contamination

Pet hair, spilled milk, smoke and mould are priced separately because they are removed by different methods and some of them take repeat passes to clear.

  • Level of paint correction

A one-step polish improves gloss and removes light swirls. A two or three-step correction chases deeper defects and takes several times longer.

  • Coating and protection

A spray sealant lasts months, a hand-applied wax a little longer, a professional ceramic coating years. The prep before each is what actually differs.

  • Access, water and power

We carry our own water and power, so a driveway, a car park space or a garage all work. Jobs with no space to open doors fully take longer.

Every estimate is free, written and carries no obligation — including the parts we would find only after starting, which are priced up front rather than left open.

What happens

From your call to the finished job.

  1. Booking and questions

You send the form with the vehicle and its condition. Photos help. We quote before we arrive rather than raising the price on your driveway.

  2. Arrival and set-up

We bring water, power and everything else. We need roughly a parking space and a half, and a couple of hours to a full day depending on the job.

  3. Decontamination

Wash, chemical decontamination and clay. Nothing touches a polisher until the surface is clean, or the polish drags contamination through the paint.

  4. Correction and protection

Machine work where the job calls for it, then sealant or coating. Coatings need a cure window before the car gets wet.

  5. Walk-round

We go over it with you in daylight before we leave. Anything you are not happy with gets put right there and then.

Done badly

What goes wrong, and why it matters.

These are the shortcuts that make a quote look cheaper and cost you more later. Ask anyone you are considering about them.

  • Automatic car washes

Spinning brushes put in most of the swirl marks we later polish out. A touchless wash or a proper hand wash costs a little more and does not scratch.

  • Polishing dirty paint

Running a machine over contaminated paint grinds grit into the clear coat. Decontamination is not an upsell, it is what makes correction safe.

  • Coating over defects

A ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath it, swirls included, for years. Correct first or do not coat.

  • All-purpose cleaner on everything

Interior plastics, leather and headliner all need different chemistry and dilution. One strong cleaner across all of them causes fading and delamination.

  • Judging paint in the shade

Defects hide in flat light. Any detailer who will not show you the finish in the sun or under an inspection light is hoping you do not look.

Before you hire anyone

Six questions worth asking any mobile detailer.

Including us. If a contractor cannot answer these easily, that is the answer.

  1. Are you licensed for mobile auto detailing and can I see the certificate?

A licensed and insured contractor will have this to hand and will not be irritated by the question.

  2. Is the quote written, itemized and free?

A verbal number is not an estimate. Itemized means you can compare two quotes on the same basis.

  3. What happens if you find something once you start?

The honest answer names a rate and a process. The answer to worry about is that it never happens.

  4. Who is actually doing the work?

Employee crew or subcontractor is not a wrong answer either way, but you should know which, and who carries the insurance.

  5. What is the workmanship warranty, and is it in writing?

Materials carry a manufacturer warranty. Workmanship is the contractor, and it should be written down.

  6. Will you pull the permit?

For permitted work, a contractor who suggests skipping it is telling you something important about the rest of the job.

FAQ

Choosing a mobile detailer in Nashville

How do I choose a mobile detailer in Nashville?

Check the license and the insurance certificate, get the estimate in writing and itemized so you can compare quotes on the same basis, and ask what happens if something is found once work starts. A contractor who cannot answer those easily has told you what you need to know.

Should I get more than one quote for mobile auto detailing?

Yes, and compare what is in them rather than the number at the bottom. The cheapest quote is often cheapest because it leaves something out, and on mobile auto detailing the thing left out is usually the preparation that decides how long the work lasts.

Is the cheapest mobile auto detailing quote usually a bad idea?

Not automatically — but an unusually low number is information. Ask specifically what is included, what grade of material is quoted, who is doing the work and what the workmanship warranty is. If all four answers are good, the low quote is a good quote.

Do I need a permit for mobile auto detailing in Nashville?

It depends on the scope. Metro Nashville and the surrounding counties permit and inspect a good deal of this work, and a contractor suggesting you skip a required permit is telling you something about how they approach the rest of the job. We pull the permits our work requires.

How far in advance should I book mobile auto detailing?

A few weeks where you can. Booking in the quiet season usually means better scheduling and sometimes better pricing than booking in the rush, and it gives you time to make the selections properly.
